FAQ

Q.1   May I have a copy of your contractor’s license and insurance?

Sure, we will provide you with a copy of our Louisiana commercial general contractor’s license, general liability and workman’s comp insurance, and any other documentation that you will want to ensure your confidence in us.

Q. 2   Are you a local company?

Yes ! We are a locally owned and operated company. Our owner, Kenny Verdin, has been in business locally for over 20 years, and has experience lifting and leveling hundreds of homes. Furthermore, we use our own personnel and local structural engineer to ensure that your home is taken care of from start to finish.

Q. 3   What type of machinery do you use to lift up my home?

We own and operate a Unified Jacking System to gently lift your home to its new elevation height. Only a few elevation companies in our area own this expensive and necessary equipment.

Q.4   How do I know what the quality of work that you do?

Our homes are our calling cards. We would be happy to provide you a list of homes to drive by and see. Every home is unique, so one of our professional staff members will meet you at your home to discuss all of the special finish work that we will be using to make your home the best it can be.

Q.5   Do you warranty your work?

We offer warranties for workmanship and materials for your elevation. You will receive copies of the warranty certificates with your personalized paperwork packet before your home is elevated.

Q. 6   How high do I have to elevate my home?

HMGP requires that we elevate your home above the base flood elevation (BFE). Your BFE is determined when we obtain an elevation certificate from a local survey company. A typical elevation height for the area is three feet, but can range between eight inches and up to 14 feet.

Q. 7   Will I be responsible for building permits or calling subcontractors?

No, not at all. We are a “Turnkey Contractor”. We handle all aspects of the elevation process. From completing all of your grant paperwork, doing engineering, permits and inspections to using only the best labor and materials to make your home the best it can be, we complete your project from start to finish. We are going to ask you to pick out your stucco and paint colors, and help us make design decisions regarding how you home will look after all of the elevation work is done.

Q. 8   What if my home has an addition, the slab is cracked, or my home is leaning?

Great question! We will make sure that your home’s separate slabs are tied together with steel plates, mend and secure a cracked slab, and level a home that is leaning.
